THE IDEA BEGAN IN 2015

Small Coffee’s concept was formed in 2015 when the Mississippi family owners were at a transitional period in their careers. They saw a need to provide better coffee than was available to the average consumer today. The apparent need for better coffee was enough encouragement for the family of four to equally invest in the equipment needed to establish a fully functional café to go. They even drove as far as New York to purchase one of their first espresso machines and grinders! In 2017 Small Coffee started serving coffee from a concession trailer in Baton Rouge, LA. They were busy from the moment they opened; serving over 250 customers their first day! On May 5th 2017 Small Coffee suffered a tragic blow when a generator explosion wiped out their coffee trailer. Shortly after the tragedy, with heavy hearts, the owners returned to their native Mississippi home. Not to be defeated, and with the help of family and friends – they cautiously began to rebuild their dream. Two years and four days after that tragic explosion – Small Coffee Big Taste officially opened May 9th 2019 at 2105 HWY 15 N (In front of City Home Center) in beautiful Laurel, Mississippi! In 2020 they were awarded the Best New Coffee Shop, in 2021 & 2022 they were awarded Best Coffee, and Nominated for Best Coffee Shop in the state of Mississippi! Proving that discouragement and failure are two of the surest stepping stones to success.
