THE IDEA BEGAN IN 2015

Small Coffee was founded in 2015 by the Greenwood Family of Mississippi during a pivotal phase in their lives. Recognizing a significant gap in coffee quality available to everyday consumers, the family of four made a collective decision to invest in top-tier equipment to bring their vision to life. Their commitment was evident when they traveled to New York to acquire one of their first espresso machines and grinders, setting a solid foundation for their café.

In March 2017, Small Coffee began serving customers from a concession trailer in Baton Rouge, LA. The opening day was a remarkable success, with over 250 customers enjoying their offerings. However, on May 5, 2017, a devastating generator explosion destroyed their concession trailer that they worked so hard to build. Undeterred, the family returned to Mississippi to embark on the challenging path to rebuild.

On May 9, 2019, Small Coffee Big Taste proudly reopened in Laurel, Mississippi, drawing an overwhelming line of customers. The experience there was not just about serving coffee; it fostered valuable relationships with the community and made unbreakable new friendships.

By the end of 2023, the property that Small Coffee was resting on was sold by their landlord, presenting yet another challenge. However, the Greenwood family remained resolute, purchasing land in Ellisville, MS, for the future home of their beloved café.

After over two years of diligent work and commitment, Small Coffee is set to reopen in late March 2026. Their small town journey has garnered recognition both far and wide with numerous awards and accolades ranging from 2015 to 2026. The Greenwood Family's resilient story highlights how community support and determination can turn challenges into opportunities for growth, wisdom and renewed success.
